Wii launch in Europe is smooth

Post by sammy »

For all you folks living in Europe, the Wii launches today. I got mine yesterday cause apparantly the preorders were set for 7december. Anyway, everything is already sold out and Twilight Princess is no longer available.

The numbers of the forthcoming week will show the mistake Sony made when they chose not to launch the PS3 in Europe this year...

Is it still too early to wonder if its building off hype or if it is the real deal? Cuz I heard on one of the podcasts that basically every system sells out right off the bat. Right? (Hugs his lite he got at launch)

For the people in Europe, the quick-sell-on-eBay-for-the-amount-I-make-in-6-months isn't going to work as well as it did with the US release. I'm assuming that the Europe and US models are the same, right?

No, the Wii is region-locked; they are different from each other. The US one can only play US games, and the Europe one can only play Europe games.

Well i got a Wii the day it came out im not much of a gamer anymore but i just walked into kmart and got one.

I later found out that the store forgot all about the pre orders they took so i got someone elses lol

Im very impressed even tho it cost $400 AUD (u can imagine how much the ps3 is $1000+ ) even tho it was a impulse buy basiclly it was well worth it.

Altho the launch was abit dissapointing (a lot of game titles weren't available yet) it was still pretty good.

The problem is Australia only holds 3% of the world sales of videogames so we are overlooked sometimes.

Cool lil thing is that australia has less Virtual Console games than usa or UK cause they can't get them licenced and i believe PC Engine won't be in australia ever

But if we change out wii to UK we can buy their games then change it back to AUS and still keep credits and the games pretty cool :D

Still dissapointed about the online stuff cause there isn't anything besides the wii shop thats it no weather and news channel no online gameplay yet.

And using a 16 digit number to identify people is a bad move for nintendo i think altho the online gaming can easily fix that problem if the want :)

The 16 digits work for the DS online just fine...*shrug*

They... forgot... the preorder people?!?!?! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!

That's better than selling their preorders to other people for 20 cash under the table... Nniiiiceeeee.

Won't mention company names...

Nintendo chose to do the 16 digit number system cause a lot of younger people also use the DS and the Wii. They're just avoiding legal problems by doing this.

As for the launch titles... I don't think you can actually complain. We got Redsteel, Zelda, Gto (or something like that), Call of Duty 3, Far Cry vengeance, Wii play, etc. That's a lot for launch.

It would be nice to actually be able to find people to play with like a chatroom atleast people dont have to go to forums on the net to find someone to play with :?

Whats stupid is i can't find a wii points card tried heaps of stores and they have no idea what it is :(
