Splitting controller advice

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Splitting controller advice

Does anybody have any advice on how to split a psone controller? I would greatly appreciate any help. Also, are the analogs nessary for any games?
PSp is about 70% done, just have to do the controller and case.
