More Wii-like motion qualities to be implemented into PS3...

Patent: http://tinyurl.com/y2xyso
:
It looks like Sony is continuing its implementation of Wii-like technology in the Playstation 3. Now, in addition to the tilt motion sensing, Sony is has filed a patent for technology which will allow users to point to places on the screen using a Wiimote-like pointing device. The patent even includes a description of "A receiver portion includ[ing] one or more sensor units located in or near the target area." Sounds like a sensor bar to us. You decide.
Well, dont act suprised, after all its Sony.

This was bound to happen. Maybe the Wii control is the best thing since sliced bread (I STILL haven't played one)

Let's say it is, or could be. But it's too bad a person can't have cutting-edge graphics as well. That's the reservation a lot of people, myself included, have about the Wii.

Good graphics don't make a good game, but a good game can still have good graphics.

So what if Sony is implementing such features? Microsoft bought, copied, and stole most of their technology, and yet what are most of you running now?

Oh, Nintendo just copied Palm...

:P

Touch screens have been around forever. Yes, Nintendo was the first to implement on ein a mainstream portable gaming system, but it was by no means their idea.

I'll liken it to Windows again. Basically the only reason Windows exists is because of the Macintosh and Lisa GUI. (I know Xerox had a GUI first, but Apple brought it to the consumer market.) If a company finds something that works, it's only a matter of time before it's imitated. (*coughzunecough*)

Eh, I still say that Apple stole from Xerox. (Including both the Gui & the mouse)

I think SCE should develop their own concepts instead of waiting for someone else to do it for them.

Why do we have to be like 6 year olds and say that companies coppied each other? I mean, it happens, big deal.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Companies use ideas that work to make money, irregardless of whose they are. That's buisness.

It all comes down to the allmighty dollar. (How it's worth more than a pile of rat feces is beyond me...)

OMG! SONY STOLE ANOTHER IDEA!

Why does everybody hate Sony so much? Seriously, on the internet these days, it's all "sony sux!!1!!!" Am I the only one who doesn't hate Sony and actually buys their products?

And who cares if something isn't based off of technology a company didn't invent? As bicostp said, Microsoft and Apple (and even the KDE and Gnome teams!) stole GUIs from Xerox. Do we complain about it? No, we don't. If good ideas can't be used by any other company... then most of our modern day products would suck. The only scientific calculators would be made by HP (wait, that'd be a good thing...) and the only video games would be made by Atari (I know they didn't invent games, but I don't know who did). There wouldn't be iPods either (not that I'd care)! The first MP3 player was a Rio, and Apple copied them! OMG! We should hate Apple too! They stole the iPod and a GUI!
Optomists say that the glass is half full.
Pessimist say that it's half empty.
Engineers say that it's twice as big as it needs to be.

you guys really need to get over the SONY STOLE SOMEONE"S IDEA thing. ig you read any real articles like those in the official sony magazine, you would realize that sony had been trying to put a motionsensor into the controller since the development of the PSX. and in anycase, no one can really say that their product implements all original ideas. saying that sony copies the wii, is like saying that the wii is copying systems like the sega saturn for using a disk drive. really, this is just a really dumb thing to get pissed about. if you don't like it, don't buy the PS3. On another note, this is my longest post ever. 8)
I will always put 8) at the end of my posts

Sony has just been screwing up way to much lately and a lot of people are getting tired of it.

But none of their new CDs have the rootkit! :P (The last one I saw was a CD my dad bought in '05.)

Even if you do get it, Windows Defender / Antispyware (Which Microsoft also bought off another company) can remove it.
