The world's first Saturn portable! How about a Satrun forum?

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

I was goofing around today in sheer boredom, and ran across these pictures of a Sega Saturn portable prototype nearing completion, built by our own Segasonicfan! I don't know if you guys have seen this before, but after many searches it seems it's not a documented work. I couldn't even find it on his website. This is, to my knowledge, the closest anyone's come to making a Saturn portable, even if it isn't running off batteries yet (or, at least I don't SEE batteries).

Sorry if this doesn't belong here, but seeing as the Saturn doesn't have its own forum, I didn't know where else to put it.

Which is an excellent segway into my next point: Why DON'T we have a Saturn forum? Sure, one could argue that it's not popular enough, but it was a mainstream console, I think it deserves one! We made an arcade games section, why not Saturn? I think that enough people here are marginally interested in Saturn for it to be able to hold its own. Maybe if we did have one, it could gather a bigger following for portablization, or just mods/Saturn discussion in general. What do you guys think?

Perhaps a poll is in order...

Regards,
CTFan

I have heard severl conflicting statements as to where Saturn discussion should take place. Some people say it should go in the PS1 32-bit section, some say the Sega Gen/ Radica, CD section. By "some people" I mean senior forum members, not just newbs.

I think the Sega section should be renamed to specifically mention the Saturn, and the PS1 32-bit section should be renamed to exclude "32bit," so as to avoid confusion.

He was working on this a while ago....I think he kept frying Saturn boards or something :(.
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Actually it should go in the Sega forum.

Looks nice, you should color the LCD black so it looks to fit together. And well I'm sure Segasonicfan or some other member wanted to make one first, seems the Treamcast form is the safest bet.

See, that's a perfect example of why we need a Saturn forum!
Plus, every other 5th Generation console has it's own forum...

But yes, I was quite surprised when I found this. I wonder if you could even make a Saturn portable "handheld" style. It would seem the board would be hard to work with, and easy to fry. Although people said the same thing about the Dreamcast, too...

Well, I think the Saturn should go in the Sega forum, because it's kind of a niche in the game modding world...

Pollified!

If it can't get its own, then I say Sega.

Haha, NiN^_^NiN pops in F.T.W.

I think we should make it clear that all saturn stuff should be in the Sega forum. Don't know why it isn't....

Well I would tell you to put it in the 32bit forum, but everyone complained "Where do I post SMS/Genesis/Saturn questions?" No one realized that they can go in the forums for like the NES, SNES and PSone. So Ben made the Sega forum and that's kind of the general froum for the first three consoles, as Dreamcast has it's own.

I'm moving it to the Sega forum as that's really where its' best suited.
