Corrupted folder? (SD card)

My SD card has a corrupted folder. Is there a program that can recover it? I don't exactly know how it got corrupted.

All help appriciated.

What's the file system? FAT32? NTFS?

FAT32 I think.

Damn, I don't know too much about the FAT filing systems. Well...I'd search download.com before google.com, as Google is always flooded with commercial software for these kinds of things. (although that itself too is a solution to your problem, though an expensive one...)

If you have a corrupted file on a FAT file system, I hate to say this but there is little you can do to recover it. Non of the FAT systems have any file recovery tool, but that doesn't mean you can't find a 3rd party solution, but again it's not that great of a chance as most data isn't saved on FAT file systems anymore.

however, at the same time, i have never ever seen an NTFS flash card.

there are a bunch of utilities out there that will dump the card block for block and try to make sense of the data on there. the only one ive used was meant specifically for digital camera pictures though.

Flash does not work like HDDs. Trying a recovery program like getdataback or something might work, but if you have used it for a long time, there is a even smaller chance it will work.

Just run chkdisk on it to get rid of the corrupted data.

In a business enviorment where moving sensitive data around is a common thing, NTFS will be used, mainly for it's added securty features. Flash cards being formated to FAT is really for compatiblity. Digital camera's can't write to NTFS, and really until recently there has not been a single flash based MP3 player that read files off an NTFS file system.

You can easily make an NTFS flash card but as I mentioned you can't use it in the verital ways otherwise. It'd be best to use a USB thumb drive, that way you know it's only for computer use and damn near every computer on the planet can read NTFS.

Ok, getdataback for FAT showed me that there was hope, but it wouldn't let me get the files.... My dad is working on changing that.
