5v point on Hip Gear?

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

5v point on Hip Gear?

Post by lifeisbetterwithketchup »

I was poking around for a +5v point on my Hip Gear screen, but could not find one. Does anyone know where one is?

Thanks

i dont think you will find one because it uses a 7808, but you can run it as low as 5 volts

I remember reading in some thread (so specific I know  ) that the Hip Gear screens use a number of non-linear regulators and the 7808 for the audio amp. I was just hoping to be able to tap the output of a +5 volts one to power my Yobo. Are you sure that it can run on 5 volts? I remember reading somewhere that it needed 6 volts and even then it was fairly picky.

it runs of 5v but the backlight sucks but if you led mod it which is really easy its a really good backlight
you only really need one led

Where would I put the LED? With only one, wouldn't it look uneven or is there a sufficient diffuser?

if you led mod it all you need is a 5 volt source and it is pretty much modded just like the psone screen
