what type of stuff would i need and also would i have to open my 360?

video capture card for a computer or a dvd/vcd burner that works stand-alone and then convert the file on your computer.

Or if you don't plan on editing or anything, you could just record it directly onto a VHS tape. (Directly, as in, you attach the video outs of the 360 to the VCR.)

Wow my Hauppage card was like $70 and I got their crappy software, not Intervideo WinDVR (which will not work with my card, I am angry!).

If you have a camcorder with AV through you can plug the XBOX into the camcorder, then the camcorder into your computer and record.
