Desoldering Controller Ports

Post by Rellizate »

Ok, I've been trying to desolder the second player controller jack for about an hour now. All the pins move when I press them with a flat-headed screwdriver, including the big ones at the edge. The 2 plastic pegs have been almost completly removed, yet the port still remains on the board. I have not yet desoldered the first controller port, does that make any difference, and can anyone here tell me some advice?

Thanks.

Which model Playstation? The big original or the small PSone?

I think both controller ports are molded into one piece of plastic in the PSone.

EDIT: I checked my PSone, and it looks like they might be two seperate parts. However the player 1 port appears to be on top.

Small version of PSone. The first player controller port IS on top, but I thought that was irrelivint (spelling?).
