And about import modding... why not just build a NTSC system and buy a converter like CTFan? He made his portable for Terrinigma famous!

Also, I know there has to be something for the PAL community in the area of portable DVDs or mabye even gamecube LCDs...look there

damn zipper you beat me to it ive been looking into turning my snes into a portable recently but youve already started the pic looks great annd now i can see what i can cut off also wasnt that one bit of metal sheating kind of a heatsink? well know this my friend the race is on!!

sorry for the double post but i just realised that your using an american nes so itss abit different well just wondering if anyone knows where to get left and right audio signals from a european snes or is there any nes portable guide on the internet as of now im using bens book for basic things but there are other things where i need to know what to do with a european snes

Keep me posted with your progress!! Yup - I got everything sent from the US so I could follow the book closely - i can follow instructions well, but i wouldn't have a clue how to work without them.

mine's coming along quite nicely, but slowly.
I've done quite a bit since the original photo.
I've now mounted the ps1 screen, speaker grilles and speakers are in place. I've also started to flatten the snes board and have got the back of the case cut. I only get a couple of hours every other saturday to work on it

I'll get more shots on Saturday when i get a chance to do a bit more. The battery compartment, mounting the snes board and switching it all on is next.

ok seeing as you have actually started you have won im going to the market on sunday and buying one used because i dont want to destroy my poor snes on accident i wont even be able to start until after christmas since the stuff im ordering gets shipped to ireland and im living in spain and i go the th 23 of december by the way your color scheme is great is it allright if i use your logo im not creative enough to make my own

It's nearly there!

It was a real pain getting all the bits in th UK. I got the console and screen from the US - along with the pad-per-hole board. Everything else was from e-bay (UK) or Maplins. I'll get the part numbers together once i'm done if you want them.

I'm real happy with progress this weekend

All that's left to do...
1 / Shoulder buttons.
2 / Aluminium sides.
3 / Charging jack.
4 / Slightly modify the buttons so they have better contact with the tact switches. They are onlyabout 80% at the moment.
5 / Sandwich it all together.
6 / Possibly do the LED mod.
7 / Find a suitable battery cover.
8 / Look into why the screen jumps a little in time with the audio.
9 / Add the remaining decals.

, but Europe was shafted with the SNES - we got shoddy PAL conversions, months after Jap / US release.
I got myself a Super Famicom shortly after launch, and then imported my English games from the US. Mario RPG, FF2, FF3, Chrono - none of it ever made Europe - a real bum deal. Nintendo of Europe has always been this way.

dudex77 - you asked where I got the bits - it's all from Maplin.co.uk, ebay and bootsales.

Anyway... I'll post more pictures when it's finished off in the next week or 2!

my god it turned out sweet ive decided my self not being smart enough to figure out making a portable without a guide ill do the same thing as you i saw a snes mini going on ebayuk for really cheap but i would still need an ntsc screen would you mind if i copied your color scheme? its totally awesome. and does anyone know how to make a snes mini region free? all my games are japanese or pal
