2.5" in a nes controller

no largest size would be like 1.6 inches

well you probably could but it would take some seriously extensive modification of the controller, and having a controller board(for the lcd) that is no bigger than the lcd itsself

Just do what I did and mount it to a game cart behind the controller... still stays fanboy retro, but doesn't require tons of bondo.
