Desert Island Games

Post by Darth Fett »

Greeting portablizers!Let's say you are on a ship with every video game in the world...and it's sinking!!!You have time to grab only 10 video games before spending years on a little desert island. What games would you choose and why? Here's my 10:
Final Fantasy VII:Long awesome story and fun gameplay is bound to keep me busy for a long time.
Baten Kaitos:Almost the same reasons as FFVII, but better gameplay.
Castlevania Aria of Sorrow:addictive gameplay and a good 'ol plot twist.
Pokemon Crystal:This is my favorite pokemon game yet, and it actually has a tiny bit of a story!
Shadow the Hedgehog:Despite what most say about it, I find nothing wrong with this game.Extremelly fun to those with open minds!
Megaman Battle Network 5 Team Protoman:Battle Network with a strategic twist!
Nintendogs:Because I'm bound to get lonely sooner or later.
Secret of Mana:I'm currently very addicted to this game.
Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess:Currently in the gorgon mines...
Chrono Trigger:A very fun game with lots of endings to keep me busy.
Let's hear yours! :)

Mike Piazza's Strike Zone:For N64. Terrible baseball game, but you can hit 900 foot homers. Everything in the game is editable as well.
Mortal Kombat 2: Last MK game I really had fun with. I'd prolly take the SNES version, which I believe is the most arcade perfect.
NBA Live '95: I was always the Rockets, my cousin the Magic. Scores usually high 300 range. And I don't even like basketball.
Qix: No reason other than it is amazing.
Road Rash: Sega Saturn rep-up. RR2 on genesis is pretty cool too.
Simpsons Arcade Game: Nothing like beating up Springfieldians with Marge and her vaccuum cleaner.
Super Mario 64: A lot of stars to get.
Super Mario Bros. 3: Best Mario game of all time with the greatest powers ever. Tanooki Suit, Frog Suit, Hammer Bros, Power-Wing; the list goes on.
Super Mario Kart: I played this game so much with my cousin waybackwhen. We played so much that we always knew the route the computer would take and we laid items down in those spots so the comp would mess up. We had all 8 racers get points, instead of just 4 people just usual.
Tetris DX: The original gb Tetris is my favorite, so might as well "upgrade" to the color version.

Halo Wars
Halo Custom Edition
Halo 2 Vista
Halo 3 Legendary Edition
(Halo CE and and Halo 2 Vista have a bunch of mods and better features, and Halo 3 LE has the coolest packaging/best content ever. Also because, in the world of FPS, there's Halo, and there's everything else.)
Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII International Advent Pieces Limited Edition Reprint
Final Fantasy VII Snowboarding
Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII American Edition
Dirge of Cerberus - Lost Episode: Final Fantasy VII
(These are all the Final Fantasy VII games. Of course, my reason is because Final Fantasy VII is the holy grail of videogames.)

This is my top 10 list of non-game material I'd grab:
Last Order: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VII: Tech Demo for PS3
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
Final Fantasy VII: The Maiden who Travels the Planet
Final Fantasy VII: On the Way to a Smile
Halo (movie)
Halo: The Fall of Reach
Halo: The Flood
Halo: First Strike
Halo: Ghosts of Onyx
Halo: Graphic Novel

There are 11 items listed because Last Order and Advent Children are packaged together with Advent Pieces: Final Fantasy VII, which is like the holy grail of the holy grail series. Obviously you can tell I'm a Halo and Final Fantasy fanatic. Of course, I'd rather just have all Final Fantasy-related media, but that would be far more than 10 items.

I'm assuming the games would be drawn from a fast-acting retrieval system, because actually locating them manually would limit your choices to a certain radius from yourself before you had to escape. Also, I'm assuming there would be a powersource and ample equipment to run the games. Are you allowed to pick MMOs? If you could use these, you could also contact help through the game. That would suck if you told somebody you were lost and they didn't believe you, or worse, you got banned.

I would also want some cheat devices to see the hidden areas of the games I chose, especially Final Fantasy VII's debug room.

Errm, I'd grab Halo and Stubbs Zombie, then realize that they are no power on a desert island, and grab 10 random game cases to make a raft with.

Killer Instinct (snes) - Kiiiiiiiiiing combo
Ogre Battle 64 (n64) - Fight it out!
Tactics Ogre (ps1) - Liberation!
Aidyn Chronicles (n64) - If you've ever played it you'd know.
mmx collection (gc) - I love the speed and giant characters
Tetris DS (ds) - Great combo of old style tetris and new tetris from n64 with some really fun spinoffs on it. If Tetrisphere was on this it'd be perfect.
Animal Crossing (ds) - Virtually endless game.
Sim City 3000 (pc) - Best Sim City IMO
Final Fantasy 8 (ps1) - My favorite Final Fantasy besides FF3 for the snes (really ff6 right?)(Didn't choose it because I couldn't find it before the boat went over :( )

#10 would be if there could be a cart with...

Portrait of Ruin
Dawn of Sorrow
Aria of Sorrow
Harmony of Dissonance
Circle of the Moon

I don't have Portrait of Ruin obviously, but I have those other 4 and I can never decide which one to play, I love them all. So some kind of cart with all of those in it. :)
