PSone LCD problem, grey bars

Hi, I'm having a problem with my PSone LCD and was hoping someone here would be able to help.

I currently have my LCD soldered up to the power switch on my Atari Jaguar. Whenever I turn on the Jaguar, the LCD comes on and I do get a picture (I am using the composite in). At first the picture was in full color, but it had these two thick grey bars running horizontally and moving slowly down the screen. I thought it might be an over-voltage issue, so I then tried a variety of resistors, but the only resistor value I used that actually powered up the LCD was a 12-ohm resistor (which produced 8v when connected to the LCD's load), and that only powered up the LCD, the backlight stayed off. The picture (or what I could see of it) looked fine then. Afterwards, I tried without a resistor again, but I only got a black and white picture and it had the same grey bars (sometimes I got color randomly, but not often).

Any suggestions?

How are you powering it? From the wall? A battery?

From the Jaguar's power switch. I guess that wasn't clear?

EDIT: As for the Jaguar itself, I am using the wall adapter.

Hmm... I'm wondering since the problem seems to be occurring when the backlight is on and not when it's off if something as simple as the LED mod could fix it. I'll try that.

I here the LED mod can be a pain.

I dunno, but I was just able to disassemble my LCD panel using my bare hands. If I got fingerprints or dust under there I'll just deal with it.

Yup, the LED mod will do it. It was an over-voltage problem. I'm running the LCD outside of the lightbox now and the picture looks great, as long as I hook up a 12-ohm resistor along the voltage input. Hopefully I won't have to do that once I start running it off of batteries, as the resistor runs extremely hot and one of them already exploded. I will have to do the LED mod though, as it doesn't look like the Jag's power switch outputs enough current at the lower voltage to keep the backlight lit.
