Quick Wii Question

Post by iX NES Xi »

Hey

I bought a Wii yesterday and im planing on buying a couple of gamecube games to play because I never had a gamecube. I was just wondering if i need a gamecube memory card to store the save data or can I use the Wii's internal memory or a SD Card

I believe you need to have a memory card. You might also need a GameCube controller...

I figured I needed a memory card since the software isn't different, another question tho I was reading the instruction booklet and it said the disc drive lights up when a game is inserted, although mine doesn't at all does this do it to everyone or is it just my Wii

Best GCN Games:
Sega - Sonic Advenure 2 Battle, Sonic Gems Collection, Sonic Riders, and Sonic Mega Collection.
Nintendo - The Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros Melee, and Metroid Prime.
Factor Five - Rogue Squadron 3

And on the virtual console PLEASE buy EARTHBOUND (When it Comes Out), show nintendo that wii care about the Greatest RPG Ever Made!

The light operates like an "alert." It lets you know that you have new messages from other people or if Wiiconnect24 actually ran an update on it's own.

My light is just randomly on and it looks really cool! I think it's because of Wiiconnect24. And no, it doesn't stay on.

You have to have Gamecube controllers to play Gamecube games on Wii. Also, I'm almost certain that you need a Gamecube memory card to save. If you have some Wavebirds, those'll fit too.

dear lord I would enjoy a wavebird controller, but 29 bucks is too much. 25 for wired is fairly bogus as well.

Wavebird is a nice controller though, and the battery life is exceptional, but no rumble. Kind of like a PS3 controller, hmmm. lol. The blue light is when you get Wii-mail from someone, or Wiiconnect24 actually loads an update. It's kind of like an alert, letting you know that some activity has happened since you were away.

I know 100% that you must have a Gamecube memory stick to save Gamecube games too. It will not save to the internal Wii memory or to an SD card. I think I'm going to leave my Gamecube hooked up so I can simply have the Wii look all pretty without the Wavebird adapter and memory sticks sticking out of the top of it.
