I think the 360 will come out on top in the end. It's got the right mix of value and capability to win over the expensive P$3 and the low-end Wii.

Sony hasn't delivered yet, and a lot of people would probably rather eat than game. I mea, $500 for the cheap version? Wow. You could buy a lot of crap with $500.

Nintendo didn't even try to keep up with the times. I predict HD will continue to take over market share as the hardware gets cheaper. About its only draws are the controlelr and exclusive franchises.

I know the fanboys say "but nobody has HD yet!". Remember back a few years ago when Xbox Live and PS2 online came out and they said "but nobody has broadband yet!"? Now look. Most people have at least DSL, and the consoles are flaunting networking as a major feature. I believe the same thing will happen with high definition support.

I think that it's pointless that people contemplate over something as petty as "winning the console wars". No one's wasting their time dicussing who they think will win this year's "automobile wars", or "movie studio wars", or "toilet paper wars". This shouldn't be any different. It's just competitive business; who cares about who sells the most systems? The day one company decidedly "wins the console wars" will be the day ingenuity dies (it's already on its way out as it is). When the only thing that companies care about is gaining the top spot and destroying the competition, they will stop trying to bring about something new, since the risk of doing so won't be worth it, and gamers will just continually see more of the same. I guess that's fine for those who want to play games like Grand Theft Auto: Rehash City or Super Street Fighter Turbo Alpha Zero 7, but for me it would get old really fast (and in ways it already has).

I say PS3 because it has an undeniable edge as far as power goes, over the 360. Plus, It won't stay $600 and $500 forever. It has the motion sensing somewhat similar to the Wii, and also games like a standard console as well. It's the best compromise to getting both a 360 and a Wii. I see a good future for FPSs on the PS3 because of it's raw power, better physics and AI. The 360 has a great future ahead of it no doubt, as does the Wii (although a somewhat different kind of future) In a couple of years I can see the PS3 costing the same as the 360, then things will get interesting, especially because developers will know how to use all of the power of both consoles by that time. This generation is going to be fun!

Oh, by the way, I have played Motorstorm on PS3 and I must say that I am very very impressed. The motion sensing took about a half of a lap to get used to, but after that, I found it to be extremely enjoyable. I hope to play a Wii soon, just so I can have a completely educated comparison.

Haha it's only been released in the US today and it has already sold more than half of the total ps3's! Wait till it gets released in Japan and Europe, then you'll see the numbers climbing

I don't think this is Nintendo's chance to shine. Reason being that except for the NES which had damn near complete market share of the late 8bit era, Nintendo's never had a win. The SNES was second to the Gensis, the N64 was second to the PlayStation, and the GameCube was third to the Xbox and PS3.

If Nintendo were to release games that appealed to more grown audiances and not have so many ridiculous accessories for their console then they have a chance. A small chance, Xbox 360 is established in the market, and PS3 was just released. With compatition like that do you really think enough people could be drawn to the Wii to turn the tide to Nintendo's favor.... Or is Nintendo content with just their small little share, as they've said.

I thought the snes sold more then the Genesis overall... Anyway, Nintendo is the only company that actually makes profit out of their consoles so that's a big plus.

Personally, I think that the XBOX 360 will come out on top. Hear me out. I've recently had a 'revelation' with the Nintendo Wii. For all those who have gamed since the NES, ask yourself...what happened to Video Games? All we needed was a simple 8-16 button controller that was simple to hold (while comftorable) and a RF or (later on) RCA ports. Of course, there were always leaps of technology (psuedo RGB on the PSONE), but wasn't always the main selling point. I think, it was around the seventh generation where this common concept started to fell apart. PS2 and GC, sorta stayed true to its word, but then XBOX came along and showed off its fancy hardware (and whatnot). I guess now it's just the Hardware innovation from then on...

Think about it: From NES to like SNES, and Genesis in between, we have experienced the most fun time of our lives. from something that's easy to get into, and so playable. Then came PSONE...sure it was technologically 'superior' but the point was that it had great games (and a pretty slick controller) like FF, RE, Ace Combat, Tekken, etc. PS2 and GC and sorta XBOX followed that track. But now it's the eighth, and what happen? Did somebody set up us the bomb in what a game is? The PS3 (IMHO) have no good games, but should I say...ripoffs (OF THEIR OWN GAMES). Elaborate: Genji is Onimusha with a giant mofo crab. Resistance is a congolomerate (sp?) of three great franchises in one (Halo (many of the weapons and gameplay styles, and you get to play as the alien), Call of Duty (the whole infantry combat with your group thing) and Half Life 2 (future ravaged, alien- must I go on?). OK, now a big time player...the Nintendo Wii. First of all...uh...WTF is a remote doing in my hands. Like Sparkfist said, he hated playing Excite Truck on it...and well I do too, and also FPS's on the thing. Let me explain. Remember the CoD3 commercial for the Wii, and you saw the guy behind his couch just pointing and crap. It really is not as ergonomic as that. I think the biggest blow is the fact that there is an at least 1 week learning curve for this thing. For all those who bought it and disagree with me, fine, but when I played it, just the feel of this little tiny joystick in my left hand to move, was just blasphemy to me. That brings me down to the 360. Well, there isn't much to say about it. Hell yeah, it has its flaws, but it is a pretty decent system. The controller can be disputed as the best in the world, and hence it is a joystick. And then the games. I personally think it has a 'decent' balance with sports, and shooters (that's kinda err...the dominant market), racers, and that one kid game (Viva Pinata) that isn't as shrimpy as you might think. It's also pretty fast to get into and extremely deep with live. And that brings me to another point of how online will be implemented by some new time players (including PS3...admit it, PS2 online sucked). So...one is too far back and WTF for me, one is some sort of John Connor from the future...this old 360 seems to be in the middle, treading far enough in the hardware line to be considered awesome, yet doesn't go ahead of itself. If you have the extra get a Wii, I guess, although you could spend that extra ~310 buying games and such . 360 ftw

I honestly, don't care how shiny and full of physics a girl's chest is...I just want to play with them.
