Blu-Ray-Rs?

I stoped into Office Depot to pick up some CD-rs, and you know what i found?

Recordable Blu-Ray discs and recordable HD-DVD discs. I searched down the whole store for a burner for each and couldnt find a single one.

Now the question, Why would they have Blu-Ray recordables and HD-DVD recordables and not any of the recorders?

Because some idiot will buy one for a regular cd-burner

. I remember i saw a blu-ray burner or something along those lines on eBay for a couple thousand dollars.

Is it just me or does it seem kind of stupid to have burnable BlueRay discs out and really no PC BlueRay drive has been release to the general market? Also the price for those BlueRay-R discs are something like $25 each. I don't care the capasity of BlueRay, $25 can get me about 100 DVD-R discs. So 4.5*100 = 450GB vs 25*1 = 25GB, gee which should I choose?

I agree with your point sparkfist, simply because I dont ever work with files that won fit on a DVD. For someone who wants to make complete system backups, or something of the like, then maybe the blueray burner woudl be useful. Most of us are not that guy.

But they are also single use, so hard drives would be still be better. Poor Blu-Ray.
