Disk reader broke.

Post by Rellizate »

Hey, I have opened up my playstation apart, and looked at how it worked a couple of times. All times, after I put it back together again it works fine.
I just put it back together again, but now it does not work. The disk starts spinning, then it slows down, then is speeds up, then it slows down and stops, and the screen is displayed where there is no disk inserted (you know the one which alows you to edit your mem card and play audio CDS). The ribboncable has a bit of gunk on it, but that has always been there, and it has never stopped it working before. I also tried wiping the lense with a towel. No improvement.

Any ideas?

I had a simaler problem with a standard DVD player, the lense assembly was a bit off of where it should be. Try pushing (gently) it all the way to start position. Seeing as I have never taken a PS apart I cant help if that is incorrect.
