Neo Geo

Post by arfink »

Could someone in charge here please, please, PLEASE start a Neo Geo or arcade section? I know, arcade board are so huge you can't really portable-ize them, but consolizing is a cool shrinkage type project which I think is seriously neglected. Besides, all the guys over at the Neogeo.com forums seem to only talk about how much they hate conversions and bootlegs, and guys who are neogeo noobs like me tend to be completely ignored.

Besides all that, SNK Playmore has got their hands into most of the major Neogeo sites and are mostly trying to hype new products for the "big three" consoles. They claim that modding your neo geo or modding your carts is illegal (it's not, 'cuz you buy it and it's your property) and so nobody wants to talk about hacking or pinouts or anything. It seems like if you ask you get shunned.

Thanks a lot,
Tony Fink

just post your questions in the technical questions forum... there isn't enough interest these days for a dedicated neo geo/arcade forum.

I will agree that the guys at a lot of neo geo forums tend to snob the new guys. (sometimes quite a lot) but understand that these guys don't see much in terms of new blood on a system that came out so long ago. I'm a relatively new guy myself (just 3 years)

if you have any neo geo questions, there are places around here where they'll fit. Increase the interest a little bit in it. The projects on the main page have quite the reputation in the neo community, so this is really a great place to be.

the guys on those neo geo forums hate bootlegs, because most of us have spent big money only to find a cart filled with eproms that just don't work quite right. but I can't see any problem with conversions. I think the new trends in mvs-to-aes conversions are really keeping the old home system alive.
