Really? What did he say? Is it the same for all Targets? Is loitering illegal for this? Should I call my Target?madc0w wrote:Trust me, calling works wonders. a lot of people were actually really helpful. The target guy even explained the entire schedule, and wished me luck on sunday.

EDIT:
I just read somewhere that you may be able to put a Wii on layaway if you call WalMart early in the morning on the 18th!!! I'm definitely going to try this!!
If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

Yes, definitley call!!! My Target at first said it was illegal, but now they're saying they "strongly discourage" it, but can't do anything should you want to go through with it. Call just to be safe, I think I've called about 7 stores, 3 on a daily basis. Better safe than sorry when it comes to new consoles!
And about GameStop; how does yours have any? GameStop/EB sold ALL their Wiis and PS3s in the form of preorders, as they had a stock count before they started. How does yours still have some?
Haha, check this out. Sony just announced they'll only have 150K systems for launch!
Man, how many times are they gonna screw up before they get this right?

Lay-away for video game consoles? Haha, never heard that one!
Anyways, BestBuy has given ballpark estimates on the amount of consoles, but here's the stinger; they won't tell you how many there actually are until Saturday after closing. Man, this sucks. I did, however, pry the manager of my local establishment for info, and after much deliberation, they said they should get somewhere around 50 Wiis. When I asked how many PS3s, she simply said, "You don't wanna know."
Also, a kid I know from school is actually skipping tomorrow and Friday, after missing half of today, to camp for PS3. Despite the fact that the line at this place is already 10 strong and Sony said they would only make about 150k of these things, he's still out there.
Oh well, it's not as bad as these idiots. To all of you console camping, I wish you good luck! especially with those lines...

I went to Best Buy today. Here's how the conversation went:
Circuit City had a few tents outside, too.
Honestly I think the whole "wait outside for a day to get a game console" idea is silly. Aren't launch day consoles generally plagued with problems? In a few months the hype will go down and maybe the consoles will be easier to get. It'd rather not loiter outside a store for 48 hours. I just don't think it's worth it.
Then again I'm not interested in any of the new consoles...
What I don't get is the people who wait in line for days so they can buy a game console and sell it on eBay. Is a few hundred dollars really worth 3 days of your life?Reading this may have adverse effects on your mental health. Well, anyways I wrote:Clerk: Uh dude if you want the PS3 you gotta wait outside.
Me: Um... no. I'm actually looking for a Rolling Stones CD.
Clerk: Dude they didn't make a game! Go wait outside for the PS3!
Me: I DON'T WANT A PS3!
Clerk: Oh I get it you're a Wii guy. *snicker* You gotta wait even longer man!
Me: Can you help me find this CD or not?
Clerk: Dude you're sure you don't want to get in line for a PS3?
Me. I didn't think you could. Stop wasting my time.
