Ditto about finding out. If that's true, I may go home to get one (over an hour drive) and don't want it to be in vain.lifeisbetterwithketchup wrote:Is it only one store, or all Sam's Clubs?CronoTriggerfan wrote: EDIT: NEWSNEWSNEWS!!! Sam's club is offering the Wii ON NOVEMBER 13TH, THIS MONDAY!!! It's a package of some sort, and only available to business level members (ask your folks, mine have a business account there) but I really wanna camp. Plus, they're only getting 14 of them. What do I do?!?!?!
If it's all of them, I will be visiting Sam's on Monday!
EDIT: Just curious, how did you find out about this? Google's got nothing.

I just called my local Sam's club. And I pray that it was just some random ditz, but the second time, it was the manager who said that. I wonder if they just hadn't gotten the memo yet? But that's kind of hard to believe, seeing as all the surrounding Targets have a camping proceedure set up...
Oh well. BestBuy is where I'll be camping, from noon Saturday until they open at 7 am. Well, it doesn't really matter, because Target is a short jog away, and it opens an hour later than BestBuy.
But I'm still debating buying a Wii early from Sam's club. As much as I want one, I really look forward to giving the camping experience a shot; it's something, as a hardcore video game nerd, I've always wanted to do.

Well don't start lining up yet. I just called the Sam's Club that said that to me, and talked to the manager this time. Whey I asked, they said that many of the stores in my area had a "computer glitch" and that's why they had told people it was launching on the 13th. Then after they talked about the supposed glitch, they added nonchalantly, "Yeah, we have to launch it the same time as everyone else or else Nintendo can press charges."vb_master wrote:I'm going to try for the monday release since I have a business level Sams Club card.
I think they were trying to pull a fast one on 'em and get it out before everyone else. "Computer glitch" is what my Target said when they released Guitar Hero 2 nearly 2 weeks early.
Sorry to give anyone false hope. I'm going to call up some more of the clubs tomorrow, as my local one is the one that told me this, but I'm just going to assume that they were right and there truly was a glitch.

So, it seems all stores in my area are doing the same things for the PS3 & Wii.
Walmart: Midnight release, first come first serve
Target: 4AM tickets, first come first serve. Store opens 7AM (IIRC, once I get a ticket I can go off and come back later any time. Not sure though, have to get clarification)
Shopko: 7AM release, first come first serve.
So, I have 3 chances to get each console, or if I'm super lucky I could get 3 of each (selling the extras would pay for ~1/4th of a semester of college for me
)

If you're looking at this post and it was made before 2008, just ignore it.

Eeek, I haven't put up my plans or awesome link for those planning on buying a system had to get the attention of those who are scrolling through... those people will thank me
I'm planning on buying a PS3 when it comes out, for the obvious reason of scalping it on ebay. I found out that my local Wal Mart, and probably others, have a nice way they'll be doing it... they give away numbers 24 hours ahead of launch. Once you have a number, you are free to roam the store and do what you want, as long as you don't leave (they will have some sensor thing) This is at one of those open 24 hours wal marts, so I'm not sure what the other ones do.
If that doesn't work, I'll try my luck at a Best Buy, and stay outside (which sucks in Minnesota)
I'm planning on getting a Wii on launch as well. For that, I'll probably just show up a bit before midnight; I talked with an employee and he doesn't expect a sellout, at least not at midnight. If I don't get one, I'll probably cruise over to Best Buy and camp a few hours
Oh yeah, I figure you guys would like this link...
