can a nintendo 64 game be hacked?

i was wondering if theres anyway to reprogram an nintendo 64 game, cause some games are rediculasly expensive nowadays, like conkers bad fur day is on everyones list, but coudl you buy an sports game for $5 and download the file for conkers and install it, im not very technical with things like this or id gladly do it my self, but if anyone has and suggestions or ideas Id like to hear them for sure:D

With a bit of knowledge, yes, it's possible.

I suggest you check out the N64 Dev scene. (Google it)

theres something called a NU64 Flash Gang Writer and flash cartridges, to copy nintendo 64 games, this would save a lot of money considering n64 games go for $90 here for good ones woudl anyone know if these can still be bought and if there expensive?

The Flash Gang writer and its cartridges are developer-only items and have long since ceased production. They were never sold to the general public and you can only get one if you find a dev collector who's willing to part with his.
There's a set I saw a while back that went for about $300 - that's very optimistic though.
Besides, the only flash carts you can find usually already have game betas on them - you'd ruin the cart's value by re-flashing it (except for some Acclaim games *cough*)

If you have decent electronics knowledge, google for PV-Backup and MyFlash. Both were designed by a Russian student and the plans are available on the web.

Neoflash is making a N64 flash cart - but who knows if it's ever going to see the light of day.

I'm making my own flash cart, for solely dev purposes - it's nowhere near big enough to hold a game like Conker (it's about 4-8MB, whereas conker is 64MB). Check the last page of the GTP news thread to see what the programmer looks like.

If you want to play ROMs on your N64, get a Doctor V64, Z64, or CD64. The V64 is sometimes available on eBay for anywhere from $200-300 dollars. It can only play games that are max 32MB (256Mbit) so Conker is out of the question.

In short: buy the games anyway.
