Aesthetically pleasing project (or humidifier help)

I want to make something that looks cool, and does something cool too. I'd like to keep the cost 50 or less, too.

I tried to make a fog fountain thingie, and I used an ultrasonic humidifier. It had a bunch of crap for the water on it, so I cleaned it off. It worked MUCH better. Now, it barely puts out any fog (but it still spits out water). Any clue what's wrong? I don't expect many humidifier experts.

If I can't get that fixed, any other projects you can think of that I could make that are cool to look at? Even something with a little bit of wierd parts. I have a ton of miscellanious crap.

I was thinking more along the lines of spinning head, glowing eyes when you push it's hand down. That's one option.

Not sure what's wrong with your humidifier but I go through one about every two years (used on/off everyday for about 2 hours total per day). If you go to Walgreens they have their own brand usually for about $20-$30. I've never used a warm-mist humidifier but the cool-mist style creates a very neat fogger effect.

is that the humidifier thats in the basement? the one i already cleaned out for the most part and got working?

well. i can tell you that it only starts fogging up after there is a nice jet of water coming off the surface, you need to keep the cover on for it to work.

i took it apart already, the ultrasonic thingy runs on 48VAC, not really good for hacking. esp if you are dealing with water...
