Basically, some guy in florida mailed in his vote with a stamp, one thats worth a butt-load of cash. The "Inverted Jenny" stamp, which Richard Pryor also purchased in Brewsters Millions, and Mailed it.

Who else here thinks this guy is a dumb......person?

LOL

I seen something about this on msn.com, didnt bother reading the article though. Did he not know the value of the stamp? what did they do with it?

PS i collected stamps when I was a little kid, and I know this stamp happens to be worth like 3 million.

and
Rodstrom said he did not examine the envelope's postmark, but it had no return address and the ballot was disqualified because it gave no clue as to the identity of the voter.
you think he might just be a rich idiot trying to be funny?

I saw this and thought "why do the stupid people get all the money?" And it's even worse when they just burn it up like that without even knowing they have it.

I don't think he's dumb; he probably didn't even realize that it could be worth anything other than it's nominal value (not everything that is old is also valuable) . Which seems to point towards the ballot being sent in by an older person who just wanted to use some old stamps that he had laying around. Although, forgetting to put his name on the ballot, thus making his vote useless, really doesn't help in his defense.

How many of you actually knew the value of that stamp before you read the article? I didn't. Heck, even the guy who spotted the stamp acknowledged to collecting stamps when he was a kid. It might have gone completely unnoticed if the ballot was handled by someone else.

ganonbanned: the article says that the stamp is now government property, and that the stamp is worth $500,000. A block of four of these stamps fetched $3,000,000.

If I were super rich like Bill gates or something, I would buy one of those, put it on an envelope and rough it up a little, and then send it in. Just for giggles.

The mailer is probably some old guy, with, like the article said, Alzheimer's (sp?), who not only accidentally put some stamps from his collection instead of normal stamps on the envelope, but also forgot to write a return address.
