Tom-Tom the cat
Our cat, Tomas, aka The Bone Cat, aka, Tom-Tom died today. We found him behind the love seat and we rushed him to Cellars (our vet), he was closed and Thomas lived the entire car ride, but died before i could get to the door of the vet. He died in my arms.
We buried him and everything in our yard.
Have you guys ever lost a beloved pet?

That's so sad. How old was he?
I remember when my guinea pig died. He had pneumonia, and I got him for free because the vet said he would probably die in a week anyways. I nursed him back to health, though, and he lived for 3 years until it came back. He died in my arms, too, as I was giving him a dose of his hourly medicine.
Although I just got my first pet that has literally been like my little sister in 7th grade (I'm in 9th grade now). Her name is Kiki, a little mutt. She's so cute, and she's 1 1/2 now. She's seriously a full-blown member of the family, even sleeps in the bed with whoever she pleases, has full roam of the house at all times.
I should post a pic or two...

Lots of animals have died at my place, but mostly because we take them in when they're too far gone to be saved. Some fairly recent ones:
Whistle and Whisper the baby squrrels were found starving under a tree after a huge storm.Whisper died the night we found her, despite the canned puppy milk we gave her.Whistle lived for weeks, but sadly choked when she was drinking something.
Buddy the Possum:This one makes me mad.My little sister went to her friends house for a play day.For some reason or another, they went to one of the friends neighbors.Upon the neighbors back porch is a box, and my sister asked what was in the box.Said the stupid neighbor:"I found a dead possum on my porch a few days ago, so I put it in that box and haven't looked at it since"."Can I see it?"Said my sister."No!Thats gross!"Said sisters friend.Stupid and sisters friend cover their eyes as my sister removes the brick that was holding down the top of the box.Lo and behold, there is a baby possum in the box."Poor thing" says friend."No wait!He just moved! How long has he been in here?!"Yells my sister at Stupid."Three days" says Stupid. My sister brings home the possum and for a few days he stayed alive. He died suddenly, and my Mom said it was because the dehydration had caused irrepairable damage.
Most recent sucess story:We hade a few really warm days this week, then the tempature suddenly dropped from high fifties to lower thirties. My brother found a poor little snake that had come out of hibernation due to the warm weather. He was all stiff and woulden't move, but he did flick his tounge a few times, so we knew he was alive.I fixed up a old aquarium for him to stay in.For hours, he didn't move, and everyone thought he was a goner.Today, though, he appears to be just fine, crawling around his aquaium and flicking his toung at everyone.Due to the fact that it is now cold enough to snow outside, we're gonna keep him inside until Spring.

The possum was a really young one, only about the size of a small kitten. When we found him he was to weak to do anything but a occasional hiss at us, but once we started feeding him he was good and friendly. The snake is just a Garter snake so he's not dangerous at all and he's less than a foot long(actually, he was probobly longer at some point;it looks like something bit off part of his tail a while back).elementxmaster wrote:Oh........I only have a few tropical fish and a cat with black fur called Sooty. Aren't possums dangerous????I've heard a lot about possums biting and scratching people leaving them with serious injuries....
My parents would never let me keep a snake. Because they're too dangerous and my little brother and sister might just take it out and mess around with it...

Way back when, back when I was a young'un, we had two gerbils. Fuzzy and Andy. They lived about two or three years and then Andy passed on. We burried him, but it didn't end there. The two used to play so much together that without Andy, Fuzzy just pined for a few days and died himself. It was really sad. Poor thing just sat there and gave up the will to live. We burried them under the dogwood tree in my front lawn. I still miss'em...

My grandparents always had an indoor cat. She was the tiniest little thing; even as an adult she only weighed 5 pounds or so. She was always nasty to the little kids, but after a few years she wouldn't mind your attention. She saw a lot of cats come and go. One time my grandfather brought her to the vet, and when the nurse took the carrier to the examining room she thought it was empty! (Hey, a featherweight dark longhair cat in a dark grey carrier?) She only died about a year ago. The vet thinks she was somewhere between 20 and 22 years old.
When I was little we had a cat. Skittish as all heck, he'd run from his own shadow, but he was a good kitty. He developed a tumor on his shoulder that grew to the size of a baseball. It was too deep rooted, even early on, to remove without damaging anything. (So if we did have that done, he may have never been able to walk again.) He passed away in January of 2000, at the ripe old estimated age of 19. Apparently the tumor developed in the general area where the vet sticks them for shots.
Cats can live to be pretty darn old if you keep them inside all the time!
