I'd like to know how all of the kids out there that don't have an ID or CC are going to get to demo this system? Didn't sound like you had to follow the same procedure to demo GoW.
I think there are better ways Gamestop could have handled this. If they are that concerned about the controllers running out the door they could have posted an employee by the door, or had someone monitor the kiosk. I guess it's better than what one place was doing (making you turn over your car keys) which again begs the question: How do those without the proper identification, or apparent age requirement get their chance to try out the system?
If they really wanted to be draconian they could have taken pictures of everyone who wanted to play the system. Given that it is Gamestop, I'm surprised that wasn't the approach they took.
Good luck to all of you Wii fans out there. Hopefully you enjoy the demo!

Jones, I must agree wholeheartedly. Let's face it: The majority of people who are going to buy the Wii are under 18 (like myself) and don't have a valid license/cc. My mom normally goes w/me shopping and such, but there is absolutely no way she will ever go into Gamestop. I think that's the position of a lot of people like me.jones wrote:I'd like to know how all of the kids out there that don't have an ID or CC are going to get to demo this system? Also, I wonder if they'll accept a high school ID as a valid source...

Something tells me your Mom probably wouldn't be too happy about forking out a CC and ID just so her son can "demo" a system either. I know my Mom wouldn't have been.CronoTriggerfan wrote:Jones, I must agree wholeheartedly. I wouldn't bet on the school ID working, but you could definitely give it a try.
I think this is a crap policy and the unfortunate consequence of it is that it will reflect poorly on Nintendo even though they have nothing to do with it. This is just another reason why Gamestop sucks.
I mean honestly, does anybody think you will have to go through this nonsense next year at Wal-Mart when they have kiosks setup? I don't think so.
The thing that's bad about this for Nintendo is that somebody goes in there and they're told they have to give up a CC and an ID to try out the Wii whereas they can just walk up to a 360 and play it, or a PS3 for that matter. That's not a good thing for Nintendo in my opinion. Which is too bad, because they deserve better.
Hopefully you can hold out until the 19th CTFan when you can buy your Wii and enjoy it in the comfort of your own home, far away from Gamestop's policies.
Hang in there!

Why all the security? So people don't walk off with the controllers? I can understand that, but asking for ID is pretty dumb. You would think they could put the controller on a tether, like they do with digital cameras and PDAs at CompUSA...

I have a half day of school tomorrow!
Do you really need an ID to play it? What if I show him my high school ID?
I personally can't wait for the Wii, and NOTHING ANYONE SAYS WILL CHANGE MY MIND! The controller is comfortable, that Matt guy at IGN played it for 10 hours straight! And thought that the regular Xbox's graphics were fantastic, and the Wii is better than that! And I don't have an HD TV, so who cares? (Well technically I DO have an HDTV... But we don't get HD tuning, so the picture quality is terrible! But it's big!)
-Super, not trying to start a Wii war. (FYI, put a W in front of Wii, and an I at the end and make it all caps! Ooh noes!)

That's cool that you're excited about the Wii, but I don't know if the fact that the Wii has better graphics than the original Xbox is anything to get worked up over. It should have better graphics since it is supposed to be "next gen" (I really hate that term by the way) after all.Super Cameraman wrote:I have a half day of school tomorrow!

Anyway, happy Wii hunting to you. May your venture to Wal-Mart in the Wii (ha, ha) hours of the morning on the 19th be fruitful.

Buy why isn't it anything to be worked up over? Graphics are everything, you know! I still think the GameCube is perfectly fine.

I'm sure you don't need a valid driver's license or anything. I'm sure they just need an ID for collateral. I'm sure a school ID will work fine.
