GoldenEye level editor released

Post by marshallh »

The fine folks at Rare Witch Project have finished reverse engineering the Goldeneye ROM enough so that you can design your own custom missions. You're basically free to use the game's resources in any way you could think of.

http://www.rarewitchproject.com/special ... d=geeditor

You can either apply the changes to a ROM file and run it on an emulator, or if you have a gameshark with a parallel port, you can run it on the real N64.

That is so cool. I just got a new N64 and started playing Goldeneye to hell. If only I wasn't lazy...

I haven't had a goldeneye tourney in forever. when I did, things didn't go well, but *this time* things will go differently.

No matter how much they remember the level, they'll never figure out where I've stashed all the weapons, and which tiles on the floor fall through to nowhere. And they really won't figure out why dropped mines look so much like rocket launchers. sometimes being fair just isn't fun.

lol, last time I had a goldeneye tournement was ~8-10 years ago, I kept winning and they said I was cheating because I was killing them before they had guns or were out of ammo. Not that I'd know but they assumed I was paying attention to their screen I guess :P

Haha, I'm pretty prone to ghosting (looking at the other person's screen) myself. I'm rather sure my friends do it aswell, so even playing field. Ha!

usually, the way we play. If you are caught ghosting, the person that was getting "ghosted" gets 1 free kill on the "ghoster".

That looks pretty sweet, might have a go on that myself

Ghosting isnt really cheating, i mean when your playing wiht four players on a 15" TV its pretty hard not to

Eh, I used to play Halo all the time and we just had a policy about not being an a-hole by screen-looking (as we call it). Sometimes to be fair you just gotta pass on a kill because you obviously cheated by looking at their screen.

We used to have big duke Nukem tornemnets and we would put a card board divider up so you coulden't see there half of the screen.

when me and my friends play halo we screenlook all the time. whatever. you kill me like that, then i kill you like that. it all evens out. im personally pretty crappy so i always lose anyways.

weve been playing team games online a lot this week. that solves the problem nicely.

I look sometimes, not as much anymore, we call it screen cheating, not really any penalty except being called an idiot.
When my friend had xbox live, me and two other friends would go over (4 total) and play, mostly team stuff. We were usually pretty good, since we could tell each other where to go. Once we were playing neutral flag on Sanctuary, all 4 of us against 4 others. That was the funnest game ever, one would stay back and snipe, two of us were the flag getters and one stayed in the middle gutting people with the sword and fragging them.
