My computer has cut a fart!

Ok,

My computer is broken beyond repair. I heard a squeeky noise from the tower than the computer shut down on its own. I cannot start it up again.

I believe its the power supply.

does anyone know what COA i should take?

I have crap luck with computers.

Squealy noises usually mean one of two things:

1. Hard drive bearings died (but you can usually tell ahead of time)

2. Power Supply got overloaded (probably)

Unplug the hard drive and press the power button again. If something (anything at all) happens, then it's the hard drive. If nothing happens, the power supply's shot, Your best bet is to replace the power supply and cross your fingers in hopes that the old one didn't take any components with it.

Then I am 99.9 percent positive that it's the PSU. The pop it probably a spark jumping, so I would recomend you don't do that. Another, but more unlikely problem is a short on the motherboard. Although, when the PSU went it could have fried the mobo with it. I would try another PSU first, and if that doesn't work, I would backup your HDD.

Go somewhere & buy a 400+W PSU. (You can get one for $15-ish at newegg.com)

well, I took the HDD out and had a friend put it in his tower, as the primary HDD. The HDD is SOL and JWF (crap outa luck and Jolly well copulate).

Just so you know, the reason i am able to post on the forums is because i have my sega dreamcast online with a BBA i found at a rumage sale.

you think thats bad. Try searching for free computer tune-up software downloading, installing, and then get your computer to restart and say that your IP adress has been logged and saying you did something illegal.

^ That happend to me last night. I really would not like a 250k fine for something like that......do you think i could get in trouble for that!?

Man, i'm scared.
