I don't even know if they're called ribbon cables. The ones everyone splices into for input to the PSOne lcd. Anyways, I bought a screen that didn't have them, and the pins by the connector are so tiny that I know my so-so soldering skills can't do it without bridging them. Unfortunately the system I'm building looks like crap in Composite, or I'd obviously go that route. I need RGB. So I need to buy a new cable. There must be some official name for this type of connector/cable. Anyone know what it is?
I'm certain I could find a sufficient replacement online if only I knew what to search for. I apologize if this seems like a really stupid question.

Are your soldering skills really that bad? How large of a tip are you using? Is it pretty blunt? Also, how thick of wires are you using? I bet you can do it. I'd say keep trying, but if all else fails I'm sure somebody could hook you up. I'd offer you one, but I don't recall if I kept it or not and I'm away at college right now.

The tip on my soldering iron used to be nice and pointy. It was a small tip. Now it's even smaller, and is more blunt. I need a new tip. Hell, I need a whole new soldering iron. I'm a little low on cash, and while I'd consider the ribbon cable a good investment (as they're probably cheap and I'll get a few), a soldering iron wouldn't be cost effective at the moment. Especially since I don't want to buy yet another cheapo one.

This is more than likely way to late but here goes. The (ribbon cable ) is called flexible flat cable FFC for short they are always measures in mm, a 20 pin .5mm FFC is determined by counting the pins in this example 20 then you measure in mm if you come up with 2 pins in 1 mm it is .5 mm. So do a google for FFC exstentions dont forget to look at zif for them also.
