ps1 lcd screen general question

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

ps1 lcd screen general question

Post by Neo_Weapon »

I bought two ps1 lcd screens today and I tested them both out by connecting the AC adaptor. I did not connect the screens to my ps1 (don't have one) One of my screens turn on and the other didn't. The instruction manual said the screen automatically turns on when the ps1 is turn on. Is there anything wrong with my ps1 screens?

Summary:

1.)first ps1 screen turned on when i supplied it with power
2.) 2nd ps1 screen did not turn on when i supplied power but the instruction manual said "The LCD screen automatically turns on when you turn on the PS1 console"
3.) I dont have the ps1 to test the 2nd screen. Please help.
Help me help you.

Connect to the AV in on the back to see. Splice RCA connections to a headphone jack and connect them up. The one that turns on sounds like it'll work. But then agin, the screen does do both. If you bought these brand new, they both work, just wierd.

There must be two differnt models of screen or something, some of them need playstations to work and some dont. If you feel comfortable with opening up a screen do this.

The 12th pin on the first slot needs 5v so the screen will turn on. You'll need to solder a wire from the 12th pin to the 5v leg on the 7805 regulator. Image

If you arn't going to hook up a headphone jack you'll need to connect all of the headphone wires together.
You only can hook up composite video to the 2nd slot. It won't work if you connect it to the sync line. I haven't tested the sync out line but I'm pretty sure it's sync out.

i really don't know yet, i'm a major newb so i'll probably save these screens for later projects when i become more experienced. Umm, I 'm saving some money right now to buy the HIP gear screen so I can work on my SEGA portable using the Radica. Hopefully, I can impress some Electrical engineering professors in the future when i head off to college. :D

yeah, I think I'm gonna have to check out the nearest TRU around my area....(about 30 min. away from me....not too far :))
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Me too, but unfortunatly I got a ds before I could get to a TRU. Still who cares what country this is, Id gladly waste an hour or two if it means I have a chance at getting psone screens for $20.
