Virtual Console Launch Titles

I must say, even lamer than I expected. I sure hope they're not REPROGRAMMING these games, but they probably are.

None of those NES titles are worth $5. Only 2 SNES games? And everything (for the Sega and Turbo too) is first-party, not a good sign.

Nintendo made a lot of good first-party games, granted. But back in the days when they had great third party exclusives, those games were usually the best. I'm talking Contra, Goldeneye, Street Fighter, Mega Man. These games are showing up on Xbox Live. If VC doesn't get them, it could be bad.

Discuss! Oh by the way, Symphony of the Night is coming to Xbox Live.

How cool would Goldeneye 64 be online.

I'm not liking the SNES/N64 selection, all the Mario games are a MUST for this service to succeed.

Am I really intoxicated on Halloween candy, or is there no Super Mario Brothers on that list? All I see is 'Mario Bros', which I is well, the crap version you get when you buy a GBA Mario Game.

Symphony of the Night on Xbox Live :o !....Kick ass :D!

*sigh*, I hope Nintendo doesn't screw this up...they definitely need way more games...and cheaper games, too!
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

If they're just being emulated, how long until people write their own emu/rom server to work with the wii? :P

Somehow, I had a gut feeling Wario's Woods would be available. That's the only title on there worth $5.

My thoughts: (in italics)
NES
Mario Bros. Good game, but not worth $5
The Legend of Zelda If the old man wants to help you, why didnt' he give you the GOOD stuff first? :P
Donkey Kong I wonder how many kids are going to download this thinking they'll play with the DK they've come to know on the N64 / GCN?
Donkey Kong Jr. Will confuse the hell out of at least two kids because Mario is "evil" and DK Jr. Hasn't been seen since Super Mario Kart (I think, sould be wrong...)
Ice Hockey WHY??
Pinball Again, Why??
Soccer Never played it.
Tennis zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Urban Champion What?
Wario's Woods The last licensed NES game ever, complete with K-A ESRB rating! It's fun in small doses.
Baseball zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Solomon's Key Who?

SNES
F-Zero One of the better racing games for 16 bit consoles
SimCity Not even Sim City 2000? Yuck! SC2k is the best Sim City game with the possible exception of SC4

Nintendo 64
Super Mario 64 Saw this one coming. It may be the only bargain, depending on how much GameSchlock charges for used carts.

Sega Genesis
Sonic the Hedgehog I think Sonic 2 is better (mainly because Sonic 1 has no spin-dash)
Altered Beast Meh
Golden Axe A fun game, but I never got very far in it.
Columns Tetris without the corners?
Ecco the Dolphin Not bad
Gunstar Heroes Wha?
Space Harrier II Never heard of it
Toe Jam & Earl Aww, not Toejam & Earl 2? :(
Ristar Huh?
Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine There's a million clones of this type of game out there.

I've never played the Neo-Geo home console, so I can't judge any of the games for it.

Nintendo's trying to cash in on existing code again, since it's a fast, relatively easy way to pad both their wallets and game libraries. Between the (overpriced) Virtual Console and the foreseen controller attachments, the Wii doesn't look nearly as inexpensive anymore.

Hmm, watch guys make an exploit, to maybe put their own roms in the romplayer which the Wii uses...

I sure Hope they are adding in Online abilities to the Virtual Console games. Sonic 3 would PWN! on-line.

And Jim Carrey would be seen as a profit.

Altered Beast was sweet, and I pity da fool who doesn't know of Gunstar Heroes. Seriously, stop reading this, and go play it!

See, here's how I look at it; how many good Xbox Live Arcade titles were available at launch? None? Exactly. At least Nintendo's putting out some initial quality product. And I highly doubt that it'll remain 1st party restricted. Companies like Square-Enix and Capcom will jump on board soon enough, if they haven't already.

Although that doesn't mean I'm not pissed about the titles like everyone else; that's pretty lame that there's not many SNES games, and not a SINGLE RPG! I did expect better of them initially.

DK Jr. was in Mario Tennis as an unlockable character, but even that was 7 years ago.

And you said that sequels were often better than the original, which is what is being launched in VC (reference sonic and toejam & earl) but this is just the launch lineup, and why not just release them in order?
