PS2 Operating Voltage

The slim PS2's power converter says "8.5 VDC." Ben said he used a portable DVD player battery that had an output of 9 volts. I looked at the description of the battery at Wal-Mart's website, and it says 7.2 volts.

So my question(s) is:

Did Ben's battery really have an output of 9V? Or, can a PS2 run on 7.2V?

Here's hoping for the latter.

I don't know if the PS2 could run offa 7.2v, but it can run off 9v alright. I doubt it could run off 7.2, it's probably too weak.

But yeah, it probably does output 9v.
