Because Geforce FX 5200LE is crap...

Post by Unidentified Assilant »

It won't run The Movies. After the logos and splash screens display, it goes black and then quits to the desktop, I refuse to update my forceware because of all the glitches and stuff, plus my latest forceware pwns. Any ideas on what to do?

Umm sorry I don't understand. What's a GPU, and it's more than likely a graphics card problem (and even more likely chipset)

I cant see that graphics card really running much. That is an amazing quote :P.

Anyway, i'd say a 6200 of some sort is the minimum for running newish games. Hell, I'm saving up for a 7900 something or other. Probably GT.

Geforce 4 MX440 is worse. My wife currently has a FX5500 and it can run some games, but all of the new ones require a better card. To maybe help you get that card to work, you could reinstall Direct X 9.0c. Also check the specs on The Movies. Your card may not be listed. You could also see if they have any "patches" that will allow FX cards to work with the game. Everyone is trying to phase out the FX cards now. They were nice for their time, but their life cycle is going away. :(

New Card Rules: Gefore 7600 or 7800 are good since you obviously have a budget to be running an FX card still. Just remember that the new LE cards suck major @%#! They share your system memory instead of having all memory on board (I'm not sure if the FX5200LE cards do the same thing but they might). They are cheap, but they suck! GS cards are ok, GT are better and GTX is top of the line for these cards. Just keep that in mind, and note that I didn't even mention the 7900GTX or the 7950GX2 because they are simply outragously priced, albiet very nice cards.

Spelling Mistakes.

I'm getting a new PC soon anyway, which will hopefully have a better card. At least this one plays Quake 4

Saying what a PC will play but not knowing what video card it uses is like a doctor knowing the symptoms but not the disease. You should educate yourself on the subject to make wise decisions.
