any autodesk free alternatives?

At my school, we use a 3d modeling thing called "autodesk inventor," from the same company that makes autocad and other stuff. It's pretty nifty because it's solid material based, rather than vertex or polygon based and is pretty fun to mess around with. The problem is that it costs several thousand dollars so are there any open-source or free alternatives? I know of blender3d and stuff but i want something that mimics inventor.

Anim8or
Wings 3D
Milkshape 3D
3D Canvas Pro --> this one is a full feature demo version that doesn't allow you to export to different formats, just the programs native format.
