Atari video mod colors

I'm currently testing my hacked up atari by hooking it up to the tv (new video mod, but using pots for the TIA). Most of the colors look ok, but I cannot get black to show up. It looks more like a very light grey color. Is this normal?

P.S. Before trying this mod I tested the old video mod. I had the same problem with the color black. However, the new mod has less ghosting and the vertical lines are almost gone.

I'm having the same problem myself, and the only way I've found to eliminate it is to use potentiometers for the resistors in a couple of spots and fiddle with them until it looks good. How do you currently have the circuit built?

I have used the same circuit Ben shows, except I have replaced the 3 resistors for the TIA pins with 2 potentiometers. I guess I'll have to try some pots in some of the other places and see if that helps.
