I've been wondering about getting a 360 now that Square has gone multi, but I've been wondering; is this game and Oblivion REALLY worth owning a 360 over? None of the other games interest me as of now, and I swore I'd buy a 360 (after the Wii, of course
) to play Blue Dragon. But now I'm kinda thinking, "Why not now?" So, is it, or should I hold out until the '07 improvements/price cuts?

I have been KILLING this game like crazy and I love it to death!!! I'll give you some of my opinions on what to do to make your DR gaming experience a LOT easier.
Note: I don't deam these as spoilers as you can get this stuff in the beginning of the game (as in the first 12 game hours)
First!!! The shotgun!!! You can actually get it in the VERY beginning of the game right after the zombies come into the mall. Look for adam in the beginning just before you go to the back where the chairs are at. You'll see him holding a shotgun. Note his location...cause once he dies, you can pick it up before going upstairs. Slick eh??? Now you have a shotgun, although I would save it for the first Carlos fight...makes it a lot easier!!!
Second!!! Adams Chainsaw!!! Here is something a LOT of people do NOT know about. When Otis calls you about Wonderland and the ride, go there and stop the ride to start the fight with Adam. If you still have the shotgun, use it ONLY when Adam is blowing up a ballon. You'll take him out in 3-4 shots depending on how far you are from him. If you do NOT have the shotgun, there are four officers with guns on the west end of that plaza, upstairs next to the middle set of stairs. Kill them and take the guns prior to starting the fight with alex. Leave the tourists alone til you finish the fight with adam to keep them alive.
Once Adam is dead, you can pick up his chain saw next to the ride entrance. Leave the area (to the foodcourt) and come back to that same spot...WOW, the chainsaw is back!!! Pick it up and do it again over and over and over...unlimited chainsaws...the BEST weapon you can acquire (IMO). One more thing...to make that chainsaw last longer...in the north plaza, there is a book store under the store where you meet the journalist. One of the books there will allow you to extend the life of the chainsaw (in the middle toward the window. You'll see its for entertainment items). Now you are ready to ROCK this game with full force!!!
If you need any more help, ask and I'll give my best input. Seriously though, with the small chainsaws...you really won't have much problems defeating enemies at all.

Since it sounds like you are an RPG fan, I would say yes, it is worth owning a 360 for Oblivion alone. Is Dead Rising enough to make the system worth owning? Not so sure. It is a great game, but I don't know if I would shell out $400 for a system to play it on. Oblivion I would. Mind you, this is someone who was originally highly skeptical of Oblivion talking.CronoTriggerfan wrote:I've been wondering about getting a 360 now that Square has gone multi, but I've been wondering; is this game and Oblivion REALLY worth owning a 360 over? Of course there are people on these boards who would say, "You can get Oblivion for your PC! You don't need a 360." This is true to a point. You, of course, have to have the hardware to run it and from what I've read at gamespot and other sources you need a pretty beefy machine to get it to run at the same level it does on the 360. Also, that beefed up PC costs just a little more than a 360. Granted it can do more, but then again we're talking about gaming here aren't we?
I haven't given Blue Dragon a lot of thought, but given that it is coming from the creator of Chrono Trigger and the Final Fantasy series I think there is reason to be excited.
All that said... I though you were getting a Wii? If you are, I would wait on a 360 for a little while (see I'm not a complete MS fanboy
You think you may have enough time to get either an axe or a sledge hammer? The sledge hammer is in the maintenance tunnels as well and definitely offers quite a kick. Don't worry about the energy though...theres pleanty of milk around the butcher to help you out.
Use the corvette to get it quickly and head back to where the Butcher is hiding! When you get the sledge hammer, hold down X to swing it harder giving you a better hit and taking more energy from him. Just swing as fast as possible and you'll take him out pretty quickly!

Do you remember where you got the maintence tunnel key from? I'm no where near my 360 (house sitting right now) but I drew up a quick sketch off the top of my head.

It should look something like that...but anywho! That's where the sledge hammer plus another machine gun is hiding. I think there are two sledge hammers there so use the extra machine gun to clear the way back to your vehicle so you can high-tail it back to the butcher!!!

As of now, I'm not on live anymore because I'm living with my fiancee and her mom and her mother is still using 56k. We are trying to get her to upgrade but she said she will in the next month or two...
By that time, I'll already have an apartment with my fiancee and we'll have cable or dsl as well. I promise I'll let you know when I'm back in the live department.
You'll beat him soon and once you finish the game, start a new 72 hour mode with tips I gave above in my first post here...adams chainsaw are the greatest.
What achievements have you unlocked so far?
