They were in piss-poor shape, couldnt boot even if my life depended on it.

I've actually considered making a digital time capsule. I was thinking of getting an old junker pc, and modding it so that a compact flash stick (Because it is currently the most long lasting data storage medium we have) acts as the drive and when it gets plugged into a monitor it will boot right up into windows with a goldmine of pictures, documents and other stuff that may be usefull or valuable in the future.

How far into the future are you thinking? If it's more than, say, 20 years you'd need to have an old computer that can accept that type of storage in there, too

That's pretty neat, maybe I should get my friends to make a time capsule.

When I do cleaning under my bed, its like finding a bunch of time capsules, since I used to just stuff things into boxes and jam them under my bed.

If you did that, you'd need it to be self-contained, as DVI (the current standard) is going to go the way of VGA (Aka, nobody uses that!)

Hey! I have to use VGA! As my damn onboard graphics doesn't have DVI like it's meant to!

Err... My statement was incorrect. VGA is still standard, but almost every new LCD comes with DVI built in, and some still have VGA. Every new gfx card has a form of DVI built in, even my piss-poor quality ATI Radeon 9550 has one. I'm thinking of SCSI -> IDE replacement.

i have one buried in my back yard.

It is set to be open Either A. the day we sell the house-if we do
or B. 2015 In it is :

.A Snes (made so that it cant corrode...i have it in a tin which is inside a plastic box which is in a cardboard box wich is in a bunch of plastic bags.
. Star Wars 4-6
. A letter to future me
. A picture of all my animals come and gone (this is even more protected then the SNES)
