My Radeon 9600 works for me.
I'd rather get a monster Mac Pro with that money.

One of my dad's friends who has what you would call "disposable" income just bought a Mac Pro last week. It's AMAZING. He bought it for photo editing, but he has never used a Mac before, so me and my dad are helping him get adjusted.
Here's what he got-
* Two 3.0GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
* 4GB (4 x 1GB) RAM
* 250GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
* 2x 500GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s (purchased from Western Digital to save $400)
* ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB (2 x dual-link DVI)
* Two 16x SuperDrives
* AirPort Extreme
* Built-in Bluetooth
* Wireless Apple Keyboard and Mighty Mouse
* Mac OS X
* Aperture 1.5 pre-installed
* AppleCare
Pretty amazing what $5,000 can buy, eh? (He used an educational discount too

But if you want that for games it's not your best buy. It's just a graphics processing unit for large scale rendering. I think NASA uses it for a universe exhibit.

This is not so simple as "just a graphics card," its a box containing multiple workstation graphics cards, interface hardware, and power hardware. It isn't quite a PC, but neither is it just a graphics card.
So is it the king of graphics cards? Very clearly not.
