my gc freezes at start up?

My game cube freezes when it boots up... it always had but i dident bother to take it back.
It usually can start... this happens like 2 of every 10 times

Disk read error it's not reading the disk. Adjust the laser pot.

really? it does this even if there is no game in it. like it wont boot.? or is that what you ment?

My friends did this, I think it's a problem with the laser, because he would put a game in, and it would even acknowledge he put one in,and it would say: Cannot Read Disc when there wasn't one in it yet. I dunno, though.

no its not a disk thing... it reads disks just fine...its like it crashes when you turn it on...u know how the gamecube logo drops down, yeah it will go down about half way then freeze.

not every time though...?

You know, I experienced a similar problem on a DC when the fan got jammed...

I read somewhere a Dreamcast will freeze/go back to bios when the system's power board is inproperly seated. Maybe the same can be said about a gamecube. The site said to wiggle the power board and press down the connection to the main-board.

That would make more sence than a disk problem...i really doubt that. Thanks.
