You guys ever walk down the road, or watch on TV, getting that feeling: I know lots about electronics, I'm awesome and I'm unique, in my own world (per se (eg: Ben Heckendorn: Everyone knows him). But you know when on TV, you watch some cartoon or a sitcom about a guy who's the 'tech-savvy' one and speaks random piles of steaming feces which was digested through four stomaches. Does it give you that itch to punch him in the face. You know what a resistor is, and how it works; he knows what the quantam value of a flux capacitator inverted through the flubber of time...

indeed. So, guys, you ever get that feeling...that you are 1337 for what you know.

No. You're just cocky and below me. Just cause I'm better than everyone else at electronic stuff doesn't mean I have a superiority complex.

Apparently that message came out wrong. It's not really a matter of superiority but it's a field that makes you sort of 'unique'. Like if you work at say a Mcdonald's, and you're 16-20, then some ass comes in and says everyone who works here sucks....sort of dirts up the credibility of your 'work'...so that insulting random people make about electronical knowledge...like, wouldn't it make you feel kinda ticked. Cockyness (*singger) is sort of a factor (per se).

I don't know if I'd call it superiority, although I'm sure it comes off as such when I try to explain the stuff I do to people.

I do get where you're coming from, though; it's neat to have a skill that not many others have, and laughable when you hear people say "ZOMG I PUT MODCHIP IN T EH XBOX AND NOW IT SOO 1337 LIKE ME LMAO! LOL XD I HAV MOR SKILZ THEN U!!!"

When I try to explain this stuff to people they just look at me like Im a geek but most of the people around me have a basic understanding of this stuff so, meh, I dunno, dosen't really make me feel superior.

In all honesty, I will say that my friends think I am amazingly beastly (which I am) for making portables. They don't realize how simple it is. They think it is the quantum flux rubber capacitoriance of the orange peels under my bed and what not.

I think its pretty cool that when people are talking about video games they say all sorts of stuff wrong, like messy up details, calling the Wii "W.I.I", and all sorts of other stuff that makes me laugh inside and shake my head at their ignorance. I really hate it when the question my intelligence about this stuff. I bet none of those people have parts of all sorts of electronics stuff all over their bed room's floor!

My ex-girlfriend thought my SaturnPC was the greatest thing in the world.

She would tell EVERYONE about it, you could see most people thought "Wow, geek"

Ya and then you go like: "Oh nice how many wires did you have to solder." And then they answer solder? I just put it in and tightend a screw. It was a solderless modchip. Don't know what that means though. 8u7 1'm st1l fu******* l337! And then you go like I had too solder 50 wires on a surface mount board and they go like WTF!

If I talk to people and end up describing everything I get a slightly inflatted ego. However as I've worked towards this knowledge, I feel I'm entitled to have that. Most people I talk to find it interesting that I know how to make a portable (should finish), and various other bits of information about video game consoles.

Same thing here, but then thats the way with quite a lot of things

As for the "tech saavy" people on tv, that sorta thing used to bother me but then i realised i was just sucking out all the fun (like when someone points out minor flaw in a movie or says "look you can see the strings")
