Yeah cost is another factor why I'm using an external pack along with weight. Since I've already got some batteries, despite being large, they work, so I might aswell stick to them and just make the case smaller like I had planned. it gives me a chance to fix some of the impurities anyway.

nice update, it looks a good deal shorter now, and the window is a nice touch.

Shame about the lid mechanism, but to be honest i dont think that the one you have looks bad at all

in the update he said that he found room for it, but didnt indicate whether or not it has been added. Its safe to say that its a planned addition.

I could have fit the batteries in the big cavity under the screen on the original model, but since I removed that cavity, there was no more room for it, so I kept the batteries external in the end (as I stated in the update). But a battery pack is an improvement over the original, since I hadn't finished it at that point in time.

As you guys should know, batteries are bulky, add weight, heat up, catch fire, etc.. which was mostly why I kept them out of this version as well as the last version.

The cavity behind the controller is only 1 inch as opposed to the full thickness of the controller (approximately 2 inches), which makes the system extremely comfortable to hold and carry.

The only things I'd changed...

Definitely, use a PSone Screen, and compact the case down further since there is about a 1mm height that is unnecessary, and can cause grinding with full sized DVDs... Not that it really matters since I don't have a chip in it and no need to use full sized DVDs.

Had I exposed the DVD unit, I could have cut it down by a further inch making it very slim and light, but I don't like the thought of an exposed DVD drive on a handheld unit..
