Oblivion....For the PS3?!?!?! Plus, seasonly RPG news!

Post by CronoTriggerfan »

Just got my new issue of the Official PSM, and it's been confirmed; Xbox360 cash cow Oblivion has been announced as a launch title for PS3. The PS3 version will feature improved graphics and expanded world. I don't know how many people are gonna go out and buy a PS3 because of it, but you never know. Your thoughts?

Also, this is the annual season for RPGs in general! Of course, there's Final Fantasy XII, along with the Valkyre Profile games, Zelda, (if you consider it an RPG) Tales of the Abyss, and many more. I personally already have FFXII reserved, and just put down the final payment on my copy of Abyss, which comes out next week. How about you guys?

No it won't, they are porting it from Xbox 360, and they said that the PS3 will have a quality loss because of memory restrictions.

Anyways, it's Nintendo's announced 6 Million Units (but 7-9 Million predicted) VS. Sony's Announced 2 Million Flaw-bound Units by the end of the year, so it looks like few people will be able to play the PS3's good selection of games...

Well I'm just going on what the magazine said, but hey, it was probably wrong anyways; I mean, it's Sony reporting on how good a Sony product is!

Although I don't see why memory restriction is a problem, or even if there is any. Could you elaborate?

During last E3, the PS3 titles showed an anomolous lack of complex levels with multiple objects. This was initially attributed to a horendously slow memory interface- an assumption which was later proved baseless. That particular memory interface was insignificant- not even present at all in the PS2.

Personally, I'm just not impressed with what I see for the PS3. I think the only next-gen game which left me truly impressed was that boxing game for the 360, you know, the one in which you could turn off the interface. Everything else- especially the first person shooters- represented just a minor progression of what I've been playing on my PC for months. I guess you'd be wowed if you had been stuck with nothing but a PS2...

what the magazine said was correct. The ps3 version will have a graphical update, mainly better draw distances. If you read the article, it says that with the 360 version on the horizon you could clearly see a difference between what was rendered and what wasn't, and with PS3 it can easily be fixed. Also, it WILL have updated textures and i believe some updated models, so the graphics will be improved. I dont know where "meh" got his data

I get my data from the architecture of the PS3. I doub't you'll get as good as the 360's version.

Graphics smaphics... Why play it on a $600 system when it can run on a $400 one?

This will be the first "litmus test" of how cross-platforming will hurt the PS3.

People like good graphics, but I don't think SLIGHTLY better ones will convince them to spend $200 more.
