minty boost power supply

What are you trying to do? 3v->5v?

With recharables, it'd be 2.4-5.
or possibly he wants 2.4-7.

Consider buying some small Lithium Ion batteries. You can buy some 3.7V A sized ones (bigger than AA, but still reasonable for portable power if you're only using 1-2) with 2600mAh from here:

2 in series wouldn't require boosting, and if you only need 5 volts, you can use a step-down regulator to get MORE life out of them.

If you use those, you need to make sure you know how long you can charge them, or they'll blow.
