Just read that in the paper, pretty sick.

For anyone who doesn't want to click the link, basically a milkman who held a grudge against some Amish kids brought a gun with him one day and shot and killed three girls, wounded seven, then killed himself.

I have little respect for the Amish, but even they don't deserve to be subjected to such violence. The article never said why he did it, just that events 20 years ago made him feel the need to exact revenge on female victims- meaning the fact that they were Amish was actually just a coincidence.

NO ONE deserves to be subjected to this fate. I too have a problem with Amish culture, but I kinda found that statement demeaning.

I don't desire to be Amish, but I do respect their culture. What problems do you have with it?

Ya, I think its pretty cool that they still do stuff the "old fashion" way. Do you know how hard it would be to do that?

I think everyone knows how hard it is, hence its such a small culture. I just dont understand if technology is out that makes things easier, why not use it? I mean, the car and telephone ONLY do good. I could see how they can justify not using computers, but some of what they do is absurd.

hello all, i'd like to say, i freaking live in that area. Our skool is going crazy. No-one can come inside the building, all doors locked, windows locked, they're adding like 50 more cameras. Its crazy here in good ol' Amish Country

EDIT: Just to let you know, some Amish have cars, and most actually have Cell Phones

That guy has some really big problems to kill girls, perticularly the fact one was as young as 6. It's getting to the point if I'm in a situation like that I might snap and kill the bastard with my hands. I hate people that go and kill over stupid crap. I hate it because one those bastards will get put in a hospital rather then a nettle in the arm, and two is that our news media blow this out of proportion, like pretty soon everyone is going to kill everyone else over stupid crap.

This is very bad. This guy was a real poop egress... he basically attacked the closest, defensless community he could.

The absolutely most amazing thing about this is that the Amish are already thinking of how to help this man's family (No link, heard on radio). That is incredible forgiveness. If someone shot my kids, I would probably never forgive them.

The repurcussions of these school shootings will be horrendous. They'll blame it on kids (even though these were all middle aged men) and I'm sure Jack thompson is having an absolute field day.

I dont know maybe they just saw the disadvantages of technologies befor we did, I mean we all know machines are going to kill us all right, I mean who hasnt seen the matrix or the terminator. and besides i think their simplistic life style would be rewarding. But as for me i am completely dependent on my machines so i will be one of the first to go. But anyways where i was going with this is that no one of such a simple nature, that are programed just to do good, should have to go like that, the killer proved nothing, exept that there are even lower leves of human indecency on man kinds destructive psyche.
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

The Amsih are about as defensless and pure a community can get. And this man targetted them. I can not imagine what the family is going through. I would not be surprised if they moved and changed their names.

This troubles me greatly and my condolences go to their families but in the midst of my thoughts came a question, did the Amish allow the surviving girls to be treated with modern day medicine and modern practices, tools, transportation etc? Does anyone know, because I know its against their way of life but we're talking about their children living or dying here.
