I have to ask
All of you guys talk about getting all of these parts and tools from radio shack. Why does my radio shack only sell crappy little toys and electronics, do radio shacks differ from canada to the U.S.A?
ahh. but opinions can change and facts can be faulty.

Many Radioshack's are decreasing the number of basic parts and equipment they keep in stock in favor of becoming more like mini Bestbuys.
I happen to live near an OK one but I have been to some that had almost no parts or electronics tools/equipment at all.
I have no idea about Canada, I thought the stores up there were all re branded as "The Source" stores

Over the past few years RadioShack has gone from a hobbiest's dream store to the genaric electronic gadget store. In the U.S. we still can find this like LDEs, resistors, regulators, ect., but it's still going to gadgets. If you have trouble finding things at RadioShack, try looking over Digi-Key.com or Mouser.com. Both have been used by members on these boards, and Ben has bought a good veriaty things from Digi-Key, things from basic parts to cartridge slots.

Not many people know a whole lot about electronics, so they had to change their inventory to make the know-nothing yuppies happy.
Basically they've turned into a poor man's Sharper Image.

Over here, we have a store called Fry's Electronics. They have EVERYTHING! Do you have Fry's in Canada?
