Planning ahead on PS1P: Who can build me one?

Hi folks,
First off, great forum!
I know you guys are probably sick of these requests, but hear me out. I just picked up a PS1/LCD combo locally for an awesome price and lack the skill/time to make it portable myself.

1. Is there anyone here who's built one 'by-the-book' and would want to do it again? I will provide all the major stuff, including a 'hand-built' PS1P case directly from Ben (haven't ordered it yet), PS1, LCD, and the battery.

2. Does the book method leave the stock headphone jack in place? I don't need the player 2 port or the video-out, but having a headphone-out option would be a big plus.

i would do it if another member falls through and doesnt want me to build him one, i wouldnt be to interested in building it by the book though. i would want to do an extreme case mod were i fit the lcd in the lid and the controls in the top like atka fighter's

I should mention that I'm open to any and all suggestions. Using a custom case like the one on the website would be my first choice, but I'm willing to hear out any recommendations.

Actually, I'm making one myself, however, may sell it. It's not the ones for Ben's Book but possibly better on either look or feel or playability. Look at 'CTFAN's PSONEp' as an example of what the finished product should look like.

You mean after I finally found an awesome deal on a PS1/LCD combo? Hmph!

Seriously though...one of the things that really attracted me to this whole console->portable world was the sleekness of some of the finished products. Beanflip's PS1/PS2, marshallh (I think) and his N64, and pretty much all of Ben's projects. There's a ton more I've seen around here that I can't recall right now, definitely some amazing work on display here.

Anyway, back on track...I'm not a huge fan of the chopped-up-console-with-buttons-fit-into-the-case-look, though I've held my PS1 as if the controls were at the top like some people mount them, and I can tell it's comfortable, especially if you could incorporate the screen into the PS1's lid, which I don't think I've seen any pics of yet. But, compared to some of the custom cases I've seen here, including the kits that Ben sells, IMO there's no comparison. If I thought I could hack up a console and end up with a case that looked really nice, I would attempt it. If I saw one for sale that looked that refined, I would scoop it up. Until then, I will hold my breath and hope that someone takes me up on my original offer

ive got some decent ideas on how to make a really slick looking franken case with a psone portable. like i said before, if another member on the boards doesnt want me to make him one i could give you a pm

That'd be sweet, thanks man. Like I said, I'm open to suggestions and ideas. Let me know what you're thinking, we can probably work something out. In the meantime, I'll continue to play SOTN strapped to my living room couch amidst all these wires

I'm currently working on learning vacuum forming. I plan on making some SNES and PSOne cases that way, and if you care to commission the first one that would probably speed up the process. As for my workmanship, check out my SNESp in the SNES forum.

Alas, it might be closer to a month before I'm actually able to MAKE the PSOne case as I still need to get the final supplies for making a vacuum forming table, but I wouldn't mind working with you if you're interested.
