AEI Components 3.5" LCD Module

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

AEI Components 3.5" LCD Module

I want to get this screen for my PSone. Why?
  • - Very low power consumption (Important because of the batteries I chose): only 110mA! (It could run for 6+ hours on a 9v battery)
    - Small size (I want to make the portable as small as I can)
    - LED backlight (Less work for me 8))
I think this is the same screen Ben used in the Phoenix.

The whole portable will run off of some 2650mAh rechargeable NiMh AAs.

I just have a few questions about it.

1. Can I run it on less than 12 volts? A few portables (NES Micro, Phoenix) run on less than 12v, but use AEI LCD modules.

2. How's the brightness? (Asking those of you who have worked on / won a Phoenix or the NES Micro.) I assume it's about the same as an LED modded pocket TV screen.

3. Am I crazy? Or am I pioneering by being one of the first "other" members to use this sort of thing? (The price may seem steep at $130, but I've been working and saving up for it.)

Thanks everybody!
