We don't need no stinking pods...

Post by Lucretius »

If you haven't heard the news, Apple has shut down the use of the word "podcasting." Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Looks like we'll have to go with "Sarcasting" and "Blathercasting" from now on. What next, only Apple representitives are allowed to say "pod" and the words "peapod" and "Escapepod" will be shut down as well?

Apple also mentioned that you can't make games for their iPods. Homebrewers are the heroes of programming. Then, now, and always. Why would you spit in their faces?

Thoughts, feelings, angry rants and curses?

Oh noes! Apple pulled a Microsoft!

What about <a href="http://www.portablesofdoom.org">PoD</a>?

Let's take it upon ourselves to rename evrything with the letters p, o, and d (in that order).

Stop & Shop's PeaPod home grocery delivery service shall now and forevermore be known as "The Stop & Drop Ripoff Wagon Fleet".

"Escape pod"? No. "Screwedmobile".

Maybe all former "podcasts" will now be known as "amateur talk radio MP3s", or another equally long, inelegant name.

This is fun. I can't wait for the applicable <a href="http://www.geekculture.com/index.htm">Joy of Tech</a> comic to come out... :P

*snore* I was sick of the word anyways. Now we can finally use "Internet broadcasts" or something better-sounding!

C'mon this is just plain stupid... Nintendo doesn't stop the use of the word 'cube' just cause they have a gamecube, neither does Sony prohibit the use of 'box'. Then why the stupid no 'pod' usage? I never liked Ipods anyway... Creative all the way :P

Why would they deter free advertising? Anybody who hadn't heard the word "podcast" before would have be told about the existence of "ipods". Duh.

I don't get it myself, but they did the same to iLounge awhile back. It used to be called iPodLounge. Must be for the same reason that Adobe prohibits using the word "Photoshop" in any other form than the phrase "Adobe® Photoshop® Software".

I for one feel that this is BS. what are podcasts going to be called now? And where will homebrewers go?

Heh, certain 'homebrewers' will reverse-engineer the games, make their own libraries, and work from there.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.

Lame. Lammeeee. Do you think that games for the iPod Linux are included in that statement? I doubt it, but that would be really, really dumb.
