The Totokan Total Infastructure Failure

Post by totokan »

'Tis I, totokan, with some great news, unless you actually like me, in which case, it's sad news. Seems my PC problems stem from a Power Supply failure. As I have almost no money I can spend, and all of it is reserved for Wii launch, I have no chance of using my PC for anything for the next 2 months or so. As x-mas is soon afterwards, I will have enough to buy a new PSU by january. So, until then, I've got no internet access (I'm typing off of the 420Watt PSU which came with my case, which is insufficient to power the GPU and it'll shut down soon). As I don't feel too good about this, I'm leaving my PC desk and everything around it the way it is now. Thus, I have no PSP or DS use, either. This means, in effect, I shant be returning anytime soon, nor will I have any projects to work on in my spare time. My website, totokan.tk, has been obliterated, entirely deleted for now. I shall hope that my good friends can take care of my online empire for now. Of course, I have no way to see the replys, but my presence here shall continue on the forums index, as I have a no-monitor PC running this site 24/7. No gfx card, so I can't even use that. Till then, I hope to enhance my status as a scholarship-recieving student at my school.
Cheers,
Totokan
EDIT: Yeah, in a last-ditch effort to be awesome, I fixed me site. Bye.

If your motherboard has onboard video, just use that to save power. Or unplug an unused hard drives or disc drives. Or you could just buy a crap gfx card for your other computer.

Nah, no onboard video. Also, I'm doing this by my own will, I'd use the other PC I normally use for internet (or me lappy), but I'd rather concentrate on schoolwork, and this turns out to be the perfect excuse. I don't know how much longer I've got, but it'll shut itself down and that's the end.
EDIT: Darn, I'm only 17 posts away from '1337' too :(

Unplug the disc drives then. You know, enough just to get by.

If there's no reason you can't use your laptop, why not do that?

Concentrate on school work? Loser. :P I would rather spend all day here than do my homework.

Err.. I only have me gfx card, mobo, and HD plugged in currently. Else, the PSU I've got now as a temporary solution wouldn't even boot the PC.
@vskid: I'm getting a full scholarship, I should be working my ass off.
16 more!

Yes, but that would require OC/UC knowledge I lack (aka, my mobo has BIOS settings to OC, but I don't understand it)
EDIT: looks like this is it. It's telling me the gfx card is going to shut down. Darn, 10 more :(. Well, I'll see y'all in january!

Amazingly, my PC turned itself back on, which is odd since I was almost 100% sure I unplugged it yesterday after it shut itself off. Probably the Mobo, asrock has odd motherboard features that randomly go off. I'd get an Asus, but that's part of the totokan m002. This is, of course, the totokan m001 (at least, that's what the hardware properties page says :D).
Yeah, I knew you meant college. I'm trying to figure out how this "PSAT" thing works right now, so soon enough.

You are smart enough to recieve a scholarship? No offense meant there. Just that you seme to think that your other pc will show you online for ever. After a set amount of time your session cooking with Benheck will expire without a new page load. Then you'll be as if signed off.

Yes, that's another thing to consider. I really doubt it's even logged in anymore, as I only knew that I was logged in at one point because I was going to log in and saw myself already on the online users list. I'm not knowledgable on the internet and how it works, I just know enough to get by. Hardware (and Mathematics :D) is my strong point, especially since it's a simple system to get used to. Standards are everywhere, you can use an ATX or miniATX in any full- or mid-tower case, as any LGA775 cpu will fit in any Lga775 mobo (of course, you need to know bus speeds for that, too). Sadly, software is not-so compatible. MSword makes .docs, Adobe can't read those. There are so many picture formats, I've given up learning them. The same goes for compression methods, I just use RAR, and if given a file I don't use winRAR has a 99% chance of knowing how to read it.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
