Headphone Question

Post by Vladakabrent »

Hey all. I've been thinking about my Portable Ps2. I know that there is a big issue with the speaker amp. I was wondering, could I just remove the speakers entirely and just use a headphone port? I would not be a big deal to me, Ipods don't have a speaker built in (nor do a lot of mp3 players) And if I were to have speakers anyway, I'd most likely use Headphones. Also, would it be just as simple as solder right audio and left audio to the headphone port and thats it? Also, would you guess that it would be loud enough. Thanks for your help.

You also need to solder the ground onto it. It should be loud enough, I've tried it with my N64. You might want to use headphones with the volume slide thing to lower the volume, it was kind of loud when I tried it.

Yes, that's perfectly fine. Plus, I don't think the headphones will require an audio amp, the signal is already pretty strong from most screens with HP support. Good luck!

I think he means driving the headphones straight from the audio out.

I doubt that the signal is strong enough. It would require an amp circuit. SegaSonicFan's PS2P needed one, you might want to ask him about that.

When I tested it with my N64 it was straight from the system, and it worked fine for me.
