weighing my options

Well, its nearly my birthday and my mom has said that she will buy me a computer part like a new video card.... But I need to descide what I really need. My computer is a Dual Core P4, intel mobo, Nvidia Geforce 6600 Gt, 1 GB of ram, DVD drive, 500 watt modular pwer supply, and in a Antec Lanboy case. So I think I should either get a new 7300 GT video card, another gigabyte of ram, a sound card, or a water-cooling system. What do you guys think

More RAM. You can never have enough RAM

No, but be sure to get good RAM from a reputable brand.

I don't see how the average desktop PC could possibly need more than a gig of RAM when running XP. Vista on the other hand would burn through that by itself...

RAM brand does not matter in the eyes of the machine. Like ketchup said, make sure it's quality RAM.

Think about what you do with your machine. Gaming? Go for the better video card or RAM. Desktop-y stuff? If you're happy with the machine's performance now, put the cash in the bank for a rainy day (or your next machine). Multimedia? Get some more hard drive space, and a TV card. Download PVR software or MediaPortal. If your video card has video-out, run it to a TV. Pure awesomeness.

Seriously, a PC with video input and output, plus a good video card is freakin's sweet for old games, video, and other stuff.

Got a bunch of tapes you want to preserve on DVD? Get a TV tuner card and a DVD burner. Copy tapes to MPEG 2 files. Burn a video DVD. Don't worry. Be happy. (I'm doing that with some old Christmas specials on VHS, before the tape gets moldy.)

the 7300 gt is pretty old. Try a 7600 or 7500gtx if you want an ok midrange gfx card... All your other ideas are useless for any pc, except watercooling which I need. Why don't you buy me a PSU

go for the ram, the 6600 is good for now. I'm thinking about installing 4 GB of ram and getting a quad setup of 7950's

okay, I have 3 7600 GTs lined up and I need your help to chose the best candidate for the job. The BFG, or the eVGA, and finally I saved for last my personall favorite the XFX

i do a lot of 3D stuff and HUGE photoshop files (im talking 60-160 megapixles) and with those you can not have enough ram!

so if you are into 3D/huge photoshop pics get more ram
