'screen pad' w/4 rechargable batteries

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

That looks real nice. I really like the fact that the hip screen will run off of 4 AA batteries :)

I bought the SEGA Radica a few days ago and I am planning to make my first portable. If i use the HIP screen for the Radica portable I am making, will 4 batteries be sufficient?
Help me help you.

Yes the Radica uses 4 AAs itself. Besure to use Rechargable Ni-MH, if you dont you wont get much run time out of the portable.

What had to be done to get it to run from 4 AAs? How's the wiring for the video and audio. I have a disassembled PS2 Hip Screen just lying around. I'd love to use it. The more details the better please. Diagrams? Up-close pics? I have my NOAC already wired up to a PSOne screen, but I'd like to try the Hip and save battery space. Thanks.

Ladyada has a thread in this forum talking about that.

Oh I see it now.

So how long will this thing run on a full charge?

The AC adapter says it consumes 500mA, but that is the max (or when under load). So a better guess would be more like around 350-450mA. How ever if you want even less power consumusion you can do the LED mod to replace the backlight, that will drop the draw by a much as 50%.
